Molotov’s 30th anniversary tour, Txxxr, made a fiery stop at a sold-out SOMA in San Diego, delivering a night of rock en español history that fans won’t soon forget.

The evening kicked off with an explosive opening set by Mexican rapper Simpson Ahuevo, setting the stage for what would become a celebration of Molotov’s legacy and evolution.

JAY DE LA CUEVA BRINGS GUITAR FIREPOWER TO MOLOTOV TXXXR TOUR

The spotlight shined especially bright on Jay de la Cueva, known for his work with Fobia and Moderatto, who officially joined Molotov this year. Though he briefly played with the band back in 1995 before moving on to other projects, his return at Vive Latino marked a new chapter, stepping in for Tito Fuentes as he undergoes physical and mental rehabilitation.

At SOMA, Jay proved he was more than up to the task, electrifying the crowd with razor-sharp guitar solos, playful choreography, and an energy that blended seamlessly with the group’s rebellious spirit.

Alongside Micky Huidobro, and Paco Ayala, the band tore through classics like “Marciano,” “Gimme tha Power,” and “Frijolero,” each anthem igniting waves of movement and chanting among the crowd.

The synergy between band and audience transformed the venue into a communal space, where generations came together to celebrate songs that have fueled social movements, carried messages of solidarity, and defined rock en español for decades.

Molotov’s raw musicality remains as urgent and exhilarating as ever, reminding fans why they’re not just a band, but a cultural force. With the Txxxr tour continuing across Latin America and closing in Chile by the end of the year, Molotov’s legacy is proving stronger than ever, and Jay de la Cueva’s addition only adds fresh fuel to their fire.

As the night reached its peak, Molotov closed not only with their unmistakable irreverence but also with a powerful tribute to their roots. Waving Mexican flags high above the stage, the band celebrated three decades of music with orgullo mexicano, honoring the strength, resilience, and creativity that have made Mexico a cultural powerhouse.

Their performance in San Diego was more than a concert, it was a celebration of identity, pride, and the enduring impact of Molotov as ambassadors of Mexican rock to the world.
